Cherif Salama was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1979. In 2001, he obtained his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Computer and Systems Engineering Department of Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. In 2006, he obtained his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the same department. His thesis title was “Development of an Integrated Game Strategy Based on Classical AI Search Techniques and Combinatorial Game Theory”.
He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department of Rice University. He is a member of the Resource Aware Programming research group managed by his advisor Prof. Walid Taha. His interests are in programming languages in general and in hardware description languages in particular. He focuses his research in multistage programming and indexed types.
