I am a research scientist at the Department Empirical Inference (Head. Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schölkopf) of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany.
I finished my PhD titled "Equilibrium-Based Kernel Machines for Semi-Supervised Learning" at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea in Feb 2007. After PhD, I had a postdoc at POSTECH Information Research Lab. until Nov 2007 and then joined Schölkopf's group at the MPI in Tübingen.
My research interests include developing kernel-based learning algorithms and applications of machine learning algorithms to real-world problems. During my PhD, I had researched on developing various kernel-based learning algorithms under Prof. Jaewook Lee. It started with characterizing the kernel-density functions by using nonlinear dynamics and then extended it to a variety of learning methods for desity-based clustering, classification, and semi-supervised classifiaction (SVC toolbox now available!). Currently, I am working on the biomedical applications of machine learning algorithms, in particular, medical image registration
