I am a life long hands-on engineer who works with the human body as an engineered system. My focus to date has largely been simulation, navigation, and robotics applied to surgery and rehabilitation.
I remain a hands-on builder of hardware and software by choice and have also written and been funded on quite a few grants as well as have hired a number of engineering staff for projects. There are multiple products on the market for which I lead the initial development. I have done short consulting stints on a number of products as well. My best contribution is at the early stages of work.
I work on surgical simulation now and remain quite interested in surgical robotics. They will merge at some point in the future.
I have wide ranging personal interests in technology enhancing the human condition. My eldest daughter (of two) is profoundly brain damaged as a result of meningitis at birth and so I have a special interest in technology for the disabled. I build things for her when I can.
