José M. Álvarez received his B.Sc. degree in Telecommunications (2000), as well as his M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications (2005) from La Salle School of Engineering at Ramon Llull University, Barcelona, Spain. In 2000, he became Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and Signal Theory in the same university. He became an Adjunct Professor in 2005 in the Computer Science Department at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and started his PhD (to be defended fall 2010) research on Driver Assistance Systems at the Computer Vision Center (Barcelona, Spain). His main research topics are photometric invariants and outdoor scene analysis for autonomous driving.
