Availability Assessment of Resilient Networks

In the paper we present approaches to calculate single connections availability. Approximate calculations for the most representative protection topologies as well as for a particular case of restoration in MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) are presented and discussed. On this basis some simple conclusions concerning the way in which paths should be allocated are drawn. Keywords Availability, protection, restoration
