In this paper we present a collaborative system designed to develop problem solving skills in learners through problemcentric exercises. This system is part of a data collection study consisting of hundreds of students which has been incorporated into the curriculum of a signal processing course. The purpose of this study is to examine a large population of students learning about DSP as they work through conceptspecific problems. By tracking student problem-solving sessions, we aim to data mine the results to model student comprehension and characterize learning preferences.
