Thomas Schelling's model suggests an explanation for the existence of segregated neighborhoods in America. This paper presents a study on utilizing Schelling's model to create an adaptive network of hubs in an unstructured decentralized P2P network. The hub network is attractive because it can be used to improve the performance of the overlay network. The paper s an abstract version of Schelling's algorithm, which can be used to create a family of topology adaptation algorithms for P2P networks. This paper presents one such algorithm which can be executed by the peers to create a network of hubs within a decentralized unstructured network.
