This paper discusses how model-based approaches can support designers and developers to address a number of challenges raised by universal usability, such as the possibility of obtaining user interfaces able to adapt to any device and usability evaluation tools able to analyse any users who can be located anywhere. The paper provides an overview concerning results that can be obtained in this area with links to activities carried out in current projects.
