Nonconforming finite element discretisations require special care in the construction of the prolongation andrestrictioninthemultigridprocess. Inthispaper,ageneralschemeisproposed,whichguaranteesthe approximation property. As an example, the technique is applied to the discretisationby non-matching grids (mortar elements).
