In this paper, a new anisotropic diffusion noise filtering technique is proposed. The technique has two specific features: it is designed for vector-valued images in general and for color images in particular, and it is a multiresolution technique, using wavelet transforms. The vector-valued feature is based on the first fundamental form, which reflects the edge information of a vector-valued image. The multiresolution feature is based on an extension of the first fundamental form towards multiscale fundamental forms. In an experimental section, the proposed technique is evaluated and compared to the single-valued and single-scale versions.
