PAM representation of ternary CPM

PAM representation of ternary CPM
This letter considers the pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) representation of continuous phase modulation (CPM) with a ternary data alphabet. This technique is applied to the problem of constructing reduced-complexity detectors with near-optimum performance. The usefulness of this approach is demonstrated using the ternary CPM variant known as shapedoffset quadrature phase-shift keying (SOQPSK).
