The development of scalable reasoning systems is one of the crucial factors determining the success of Semantic Web systems. Recently, in [GH06], an approach is proposed, which tackles the problem by splitting the assertional part of ontologies into several partitions. In this work we provide our experiences gained by implementing and understanding the given partitioning algorithm and fix some issues which came our way. Furthermore, we propose an extension of the algorithm, which allows for assertional updates, without need to repartition the whole knowledge base. Both contributions can hopefully increase the potential success of partitioning real world ontologies..
