A great deal of valuable information and content in collaborative situations is lost because it is either too difficult to preserve, or adequate means do not exist to preserve it. A common thread of many of these collaborative situations is the use of speech to convey information. We attend meetings, conferences, presentations, teleconferences, and leave voicemail for each other, but the byproducts of these collaborative interactions is lost unless it is laboriously recorded. Rough'n'Ready is entering the second year of a three-year project to explore the application of computer-based language technology to capture, annotate, index, and archive such interactions.
