XML User Interfaces for Collaborative Mobile Virtual Communities

In [7], we reported on our experience in building Collaborative Mobile Virtual Communities (CMVC) on the Web. In [8], we proposed a finite state machine model and a new approach to develop user interfaces for CMVC and similar applications. The approach requires developers to write application-independent specifications of the user interface, which is interpreted differently on different devices. This paper illustrates by example the application of this approach in the context of CMVC, using an XML-based specification language.
