Pointing is a natural way of communicating. Children in all cultures use pointing inherently. Attaching tags to our environment enables interaction by pointing. Visual tags are a good choice when low-cost and easy production are the issues. Adding visual markers to printed media adds a new dimension to it. A magazine can have direct links to web-pages related to the articles and ordering something from a catalogue is made straightforward. The use of the visual markers is reasonable in printed mass media as there is no additional cost. A conventional keypad user interface of mobile phones is unsuitable for some modern situations. Here we present a visual tagging system and show how such a system can be used for fast and efficient user interface, utilizing a camera phone as a pointing device.
