Animation tools haveproven to be effective asa means of visualising formal specijcations. Specijcations that might otherwise be impenetrable can be communicated to a wide range ofpeople involved in the soware development pmcess. Here we argue that animation can also aid understanding offormal program development, or rejnement. We examine two case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of visualisations generated from a specijcation animation tool for improving the understanding of rejnements.
