High-Precision Localization of Circular Landmarks in Aerial Images
The reliability and accuracy of point-based image registration strongly depends on the selection of suitable landmarks and on the precision of localizing theses landmarks in images. In this contribution, we consider the problem of landmark extraction for the purpose of aerial image registration. We suggest to use a specific type of circular landmarks and introduce a model-based approach for localizing these features with high subpixel precision. The approach has been tested on synthetic as well as on real image data.
