Generating Web Monitors

- A web monitor is a program used to monitor some public HTML-based Internet information available from dynamic HTML documents on the Internet based on a user defined set of criteria. It is able to deal with public information available on the Internet on a single or multiple websites as a set of variables which the user uses to define some required notification conditions. The monitored information may be stock information, current and expected weather status, currency exchange rates, etc. Based on the defined criteria the monitor generates SMS or email messages and sends them to the user notifying him/her whenever the criteria are met. In this paper, we describe a development environment where web monitors can be automatically developed and generated. This development environment facilitates creating web monitors.
