An Empirical Comparison of Methods for Iceberg-CUBE Construction
TheIceberg-Cube problemis to identify the combinations of valuesfor a set of attributes for whicha specified aggregationfunction yields values over a specified aggregate threshold. Weimplementedbottom-up and top-down methodsfor this problem. The bottom-upmethodincluded pruning. Results showthat the top-downmethod, with or without pruning, wasslower than the bottom-upmethodbecauseof less effective pruning.
