Developing Interactive Web-Based Facilities for Medium-Sized Museums

The project aims to explore the potential of certain new Internet technologies for small and medium sized museums. It is based on a particular project at a museurn in the UK. In particular it attempts to address questions of social context and multiple narratives in relation to the museum's collection. Particular care was taken to ensure the resulting web site is accessible to a wide range of users. A prototype website has bccn developed which illustrates some approaches and raises important issues about the distribution of tasks between client and server, and the relationship of 2D to 3D representations.
