A new error resilient video coding tool [4] has been proposed, which further encodes with ECC (Error Correction Code) a video bitstream. Simulation results show a significant improvement over the current error resilient video coding tools represented by resy nchronisation in the MPEG-4. However ECC scheme still has its disadvantage. If a single residual error bit within a frame escapes the protection with an ECC scheme, the quality of the subsequent video frames will suffer. To address this problem a new tool, IFR (intra frame relay), is proposed in this work using upstream messaging from decoder. In an upstream message the first corrupted macroblock number of an I (Intra) frame is transmitted to encoder, so in the next frame all the macroblocks associated with the corrupted macroblocks are encoded in Intra mode to increase the possibility that the decoder will have decent reference frames for the subsequent predicted frames.
