One of the major challenges facing information systems today is that of finding relevant information to satisfy a user's request and presenting it in a preferred form. The pool of information that needs to be searched includes not only traditional data sources such as data bases but also hypermedia documents, email messages, multimedia messages, and so on. The way information is presented needs to take account not only of user preferences but also the preferences of the information provider. With the developments in mobile devices and communications networks, information may be accessed from anywhere providing additional requirements for presentation processes. This paper describes a system developed in the Youngster project for personalised presentation of information to users of mobile devices that takes account of the context of the user and provides for both user and provider preferences.
