: This paper presents evidence from a survey that was carried out to investigate the age influence on the needs and preferences of mobile phone owners. The impact of mobile phone adoption in different generations of society is discussed to illustrate the need for the design of mobile phones that support ‘all’ generations of users. We conclude with a possible design solution to alleviate the age gap in which the findings from our survey, the ‘four-pleasure’ framework, user interface adaptation, and advanced wireless technologies are employed.
