The service-oriented architecture (SOA) is becoming increasingly popular as a paradigm for developing new distributed systems and integrating heterogeneous legacy systems. A service-oriented system (SO system for short) is a group of applications that interact with other(s) by providing and/or consuming services. As the deployments of serviceoriented applications and systems increase, it becomes obvious that systems management is the "Achilles' heel" of these systems. This paper reviews the underlying concepts, principles and technologies related to SO systems management. Key words SOA
