– The role of serious games in validating computational sociocultural models is described. To accomplish this, we show the role of a cognitive engine in generating behaviors for a serious game. Specifically, we describe a particular cognitive engine and how it would be used in a serious game. ext, we show how serious games could be applied to the sociocultural domain, including the role sociological theory could play in defining the game. Subsequently, an example game architecture concerning a knowledge-based sociocultural model is examined. Finally, the role of serious games in validation of sociocultural models is discussed.
