Network Coding Network Coding has emerged as a new paradigm that has influenced Information and Coding Theory, Networking, Wireless Communications, Computer Science, Graph Theory etc. (see Network Coding Homepage http://www.ifp.uiuc.edu/ koetter/NWC/) The basic idea of Network Coding (stated by Ahlswede, Cai, Li and Yeung, 2000) is to allow the intermediate nodes to process the received information before forwarding them. Ahlswede et al. showed that by Network Coding one can achieve the multicast capacity in information networks with a single source. Cai et al. (2002) showed that Linear Coding suffices to achieve the min-cut bound. Sanders et al. (2003) gave a polynomial time algorithm to construct linear codes for single source multicast.
