Combining Interactive Modelling and Scientific Discovery in the Classroom
Collaborative modelling tools can support rich activities in the classroom, including both small group work and plenary activities. They can also support the processing and analyses of material gained from observations outside the classroom. This is demonstrated with an application in the area of astronomy, namely for "lunar cartography". The implementation is based on the collaborative modelling platform Cool Modes. A first trial in school is described. KEYWORDS Astronomy, moon, images, measurement, calculation, modelling
