Exploiting Laguerre functions to improve the feasibility/performance compromise in MPC
Abstract— This paper develops a novel mechanism for managing the performance and feasibility trade off withing predictive control. Specifically, it demonstrates that the potential of Laguerre functions needs more investigation by the community as this offers a simple and effective alternative to the more usual parameterisations of degrees of freedom in the predictions. The paper develops a simple and efficient dual-mode algorithm using Laguerre functions and demonstrates, by example, the improvements with respect to a conventional approach, in terms of performance and feasibility benefits.
