Groupware Case Studies: Electronic Meeting Systems in the Work Place
This paper presents data collected from 5 real-world (federal, state and commercial) groups as they undertook their real-world (Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Joint Application Development (JAD)) projects. The data were collected over a series of 41 actual meetings and organized around group characteristics such as commitment, honesty, perceived production, etc. The analysis of these data hint at changes in these group characteristics over time when using groupware - Electronic Meeting Systems(EMS). Finally, these findings lead the authors to posit that EMS can impact the social components of a group as well as the production components.
