Online training and support objects can be difficult and timeconsuming to create. Written words are often ignored by users who want someone to show them a procedure. Viewlets are compelling audio-visual “movies” that show how software or other computer technologies work. Additionally, Viewlets provide the opportunity for interactivity and simulation. They are easy and fast to create and enjoyable and instructive to view. The benefits of this are twofold: 1) Content authors save time/money when building support modules, 2) Support call volume decreases because Viewlets answer user-questions, precluding the need to use more expensive live phone assistance. This paper presentation will discuss how Viewlets are used at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
