Open-Ended Navigation Path Planning in Self-Directed Learning on the Web
The main topic addressed in this paper is how to help a learner plan a navigation path in self-directed learning on the Web. Our approach to this issue is to analyze the open-ended resource navigation planning tasks in order to design facilities that can more readily facilitate his/her planning activities. In this paper, we provide the learner with a resource navigation planning environment called Navigation Planning Assistant, which enables him/her to plan how to navigate the Web pages involving how to traverse a number of Web-based resources in a self-directed way before learning. This environment calls the learner's attention to establishing the navigation path prior to and separately from learning the Web.
