The complexity of preserving the web is becoming one of the most important information and communication media. While the quantity of digital resources available through the web is increasing exponentially (in many and relevant domains, like scientific sectors or e-government), the quality is not ensured and the tools for preservation are not clear defined. Many issues require to be addressed, specifically in the identification area (what to preserve and why) and with reference to the effort of building policies and procedures for ensuring quality in the creation process and, as a result, in the preservation function. Interfaces to library systems have largely failed to represent the inherently collaborative nature of information work.
