NetChat: Communication and Collaboration via WWW
Practice has shown that providing content to students alone is not sufficient for good learning results. In computer based training (CBT) and especially webbased training (WBT) environments - such as virtual universities - the communication between the students and the professors as well as between the students among themselves is very important. We present a Java program that allows the students to communicate and to cooperate on shared documents via the web and that can be used to establish a basic environment for a virtual university. It enables professors to create protocols of the held classes which can be stored in the virtual class rooms. Students can refer to these protocols to e.g. reread a class.
