We describe our development work of tools for data collection and data management for wearable and ubiquitous computing. By embedding different kinds of sensory devices on the user’s body or on various items in the enviroment, we are able to develop various kinds of models for the activity of the persons or items. This development work requires means to collect, store and label the data wirelessly and in an nonobtrusive way. We present requirements for such tools and the development work of data collection tools for wireless sensor devices with user interfaces (display, wearable, handheld) to assist researchers in data collection. We conclude that for different requirements (discretion, portability, undisturbance) different kind of tool is needed.
