Searching the Blogosphere
With the massive adoption of internet technologies, social media and blogs have become primary means of expressing opinions online. The Blogosphere contains a wealth of information about a variety of topics that can be used for extracting useful and actionable insights regarding the ‘public opinion’. Information in the Blogosphere differs significantly from the traditional web content, hence requiring specialized technology. We present BlogScope (www.blogscope.net), a system for online analysis of high volume temporally ordered text sources, currently applied to the analysis of the Blogosphere. We describe the system, its main concepts, and techniques developed for searching blogs.
